The phrase "focus on your strengths, not your shortcomings" seems to me to be the wrong way around. It should really be "focus on your shortcomings, but be aware of your strengths"
Otherwise how do you impove? Without knowing that there are other people there better than you, how do we have the motivation to do better and better?
After being used to being a consistently high-enough scorer back home, to come overseas to compete a step up, and in a totally alien field of law&biz is interesting.

It is 1am.. And I think I shall go to Tesco.. Because they restock their meat section at 2am. And fresh meat is yummy.

So many things to do, yet I'm still here, typing away on my blog.
In 2 days, I have consumed about 2 large bars of chocolate and about 10 mugs of coffee.
I really really do need a lesson in discipline - what's the use of making all these big, grand plans when I can't stick to them?
And I really need to take note of my big mouth. Sometimes, I am so used to my friends back home, to be the 'voice of reason' that I forget that people I am with right now are more mature in a sense, after having studies independently for close to a year, and even their mentality - that I forget that people would rather solve their own problems. ARGH.

Anws, today, I went to watch Chelsea v ManUtd in Rootes. I went because I wanted to see the guard of honour. And the football guys in spiffy suits. Sir Alex rested about 8 1st team members - Ronaldo, Giggs, Ferdinand, Rooney... Van der Sar and Scholes were on the bench though.
It turned out to be hilarious, and altogether boring. 4 guys jumping for the same ball? Bad passes, mistimed tackles?
We left at HT.

Exams are.. coming. :(
Somehow, there is no motivation to study. Or no motivation to go out.. I just feel like being a blob, sitting in front of my laptop, eating 2 tubs of Ben&Jerrys everyday and watching movies. LOL.
Anyhows, since that isn't possible, I have been studying, bit by bit.. Contract is just eluding me though. It's so much harder to digest than tort. Doesn't help with that guy using fanciful language. GAH.

Milan were out of this world tonight.
Which, of course, ended badly for ManUtd.

- The passes went everywhere, except never to a player in white.
- Milan were everywhere. They choked up defence, midfield, attack. >.<" They were just getting at the end of everything ManUtd players hit, and their passes were incredibly accurate.
- In the first half hour, I could count on both hands the number of times the commentator mentioned ManUtd players.

Well, back to studying! I'm awfully worried how I'm gonna cope with exams!

And after exams, we are headed off to Germany and Belgium.
One part of me wants to go, to travel.
The other part of me doesn't. I want to stay on campus to enjoy the terrific weather. Run everyday. Pack.

How do we stereotype people, how are we able to make assumptions so freely?
Talking with Libin today on MSN gave me quite abit to think about - it was a long talk because that lucky girl's exams have ended already! So it was basically a me-venting-out-my-lastest-frustrations and her listening and giving input.

Which led me to think, what is the typical Singaporean? How come we have been labelled 'kiasu'? I have seen this trait in so many different people: different lives, groups, races, etc and they all display a "you can't lose attitude". What crossed the line from competitive to annoying?
They other day I hosted a dinner. Of course, I can say I can't really complain about anything for 'bringing it onto myself', but I do have some major gripes.

1) People were l-a-t-e. Does anyone not know anything about punctuality anymore? By 7.30pm, which was the allocated time, (WHICH WAS DAMN EFFING LATE, and a comfortable time for people to get ready), there were 5 of us: Ben, JW, Shuki, Charb, and I. Wow. We had to wait for another hour for sufficient people to turn up to get started - which on hindsight, we shouldn't.
It is fucking rude.

2) And, by all means, go ahead, go search under every nook and cranny for the food. YOU GUYS KNEW that some of the dishes weren’t ready yet, but YOU GUYS happily helped yourself to it. So, I can understand wanting to eat, but what is with this i-must-win attitude? It was utterly disgusting watching human beings fall onto the food like starving animals. And of course, what was left at the end were POTATOES. Why? BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T FUCKING PEELED AND CUT INTO BITE-SIZED PIECES. For goodness sakes.

3) Clean-up. HELLO PEOPLE? Where have your manners gone? Aren't you taught to keep everything once you are done with it? What happened to helping? In the end, Jiawei, whose birthday we were supposed to be celebrating, helped me tidy up until around midnight. Which effectively meant that I had been standing for 18 hours straight, and left me feeling crabby, annoyed, faint and exhausted.

And I really do want to know, how many people had actually wished these people Happy Birthday? They apparently just came for the food.

I would like to think that after 7 months of independence, I have matured. It could be just an illusion.
But I am no longer that reckless person, hell bent on going to every union event, doing useless things.
I might still not be putting my time here to good use. Afterall, there are a wealth of opportunities to be had, and I'm a permanent fixture in my room.

Am I lucky? I certainly am. Getting to come overseas to study was what I have wanted for so long.
But then I simply can't stand people doing that self-pity shizz on me, saying that I'm lucky, I can travel when I'm young, I can do so many things, get to experience life while I don't have to work.

But what people don't undertsand is that, EVERYONE CAN DO IT TOO. I've just been placed at an optimal position to take advantage of all these opportunities.
But then, people are given arms, legs, brains. So that they can choose to better themselves. Don't bother with that I'm not as blessed thing, because if you can choose to, you could as well, just that you are sitting there, wasting your time with thoughts about how bad your life is, and how it could be better.

Despite me being judgemental and, at times, downright difficult, I seldom strongly dislike people. But then I more than strongly dislike you. Infact, I abhor you.
As far as "friends" go he is by far the worst, most vile, fake person I know.

Who only makes close friends (socialises) with highprofile people, or the rich, or the beautiful, or the talented, or the angmohs, because he thinks he is great.
He doesn't hang out with us Singaporeans because according to him it's "so boring, come overseas of course must integrate, mah". Of course we can "integrate, mah" but then it is plain to see that he thinks its "uncool" for a whole bunch of "chinkos" to associate too closely.
He dislikes spending money - being thrifty is good, being downright stingy is NOT - except on himself, because he thinks he is great. Everyone "loves him" so it is fine for him to leech off people. 
He gobbles up all the food at the table, not even pausing to say a simple thankyou, comes when uninvited because he hears about it and thinks that he is automatically invited because he thinks he is so great everyone will welcome him with open arms.
He disappears on end because he hangs out with his rich, beautiful, talented, angmoh friends but then when there is a Singapore gathering, because he must be the centre of the party.
He insults people, he lacks tact, he is hurtful and childish.
He tries so hard to look good, but confidence is one thing, arrogance is another. And no matter what, even if you try you can't look good because, just because he lacks class and maturity.
He is condescending towards people he thinks are below him, even though he is not, and the phrase I've most often heard from his foul mouth is "you sure you can do it, anot?" with a smug grin to accompany.
Every single thing about him rubs me the wrong way.

But anws, the days are lengthening (which is why I'm up at the ungodly hour of freaking 6am); it's still rather chilly especially early mornings and evenings.
Exams are around the corner, and I can't wait to go home! :(

I am sick of having to entertain people who I don't feel like talking to while trying to study. And don't tell me to appear offline or whatever shit, if you don't talk to me there won't be a problem anyway. And if I don't want to "chat" I prolly won't start a convo with you.

I am supposed to be studying :(

But I read about using 1 photo with 2 exposures to create another photo, so I decided to see how I could manage.
I'm overall quite happy with the result (&IT-whiz-JW said it was nice too!) But then, I think adjusting the exposure for the foreground degraded the quality of it, contrast not very well done. :(
And you can also see the outline where I chucked the foreground in..
And I did it by randomly adjusting sliders all over the place so it was an exercise in futility because I'm still not sure how to get it done correctly. Blah.

Just got back nearly past midnight - the 1st time I've been out since I got back!!
Went out in the morning with dajie.. we walked around Vivo, which is becoming like some kind of UK import shopping centre which is really quite irritating. But it is much much much smaller than the Bullring.
Had lunch, walked some more, and had some tea, along with the most amazingly horrible cheesecake I have ever tasted in my entire life. GAG.
Went home.. and then.. WENT BACK OUT TO VIVO to meet Weizhao. Alamak.
Had dinner and watched 300 :P I couldn't stop laughing throughout the entire show, it was just.. off. Like super off.

Sheffield United should have been given a second-half penalty when Gabriel Heinze brought down Luton Shelton. Blades boss Warnock fumed: “They have to give the decision and then upset Sir Alex. I know people don’t like upsetting Sir Alex. As well as 75,000 people you’ve got him patrolling the touchline.

I can understand that the boss was upset that his penalty claim got turned down, but then in games the ref makes bad decisions and good decisions, furthermore, there was another almost-as-valid claim by Rooney turned down when he got clattered into from the back by some SU player.
And the way SU were playing were horrible. Sure it was effective enough in keeping ManUtd at bay, but then the man-marking and sometimes double/triple-teaming were just totally spoiling the game. And they were being right arses about it too; extra physical even when the players weren't on the ball.
I don't exactly blame Ronaldo for going off his rocker and getting carded because some stupid guy marked him so tight and keep pulling his jersey/shoving him away that he asked the guy if he wanted his #7 and made a mock gesture to take it off (&perhaps sign it) for that SU player.

Snacking on those leftover CNY goodies has never tasted so good. Polished off the almond cookies and cashew nuts and the funny-curry-puff-looking-things-with-peanut-butter-in-them, and now I'm starting on the crunchy almond cookies. (: (:

Argh - the exam timetables are out. And just when my friends are finishing their exams in SGP.
Double ARGH - they are only a month away, and all this studying is taking place during the bright, sunny season of spring/summer! I want to go out and play football, laze around in the sun, go running, go skydiving, white water rafting, etcetc, not be cooped up somewhere studying W.D.D.D (What Did Denning Do?)

Anyhows, ManUtd tix are sold out... ALL the way until next season because now everyone thinks they can pay 35quid to watch them beat whatever team 7-1. :( I really want to watch another match!

I shall start taking photos of what I eat and post them here for JW to drool at hehehehe.

Coming to the UK is seriously a wonderful experience, get to experience so many things because of the convenience of proximity and geography.
